The Little Story
It is said ravens are considered psychopomps, connecting the material world with the spirit world. A dashing bird, clearly encouraged by thousands of tourists visiting Utah’s Bryce Canyon performed with gusto—bobbing, ruffling feathers, clicking, and making otherworldly sounds. In front of a backdrop of hoodoos and time-sculpted red rock, the glossy-feathered canyon guide posed with tourists. My sister took my picture there. I love the photo, but the experience is so burned in my memory, I can just close my eyes and go there.
