The Little Story
Pressing into the paper with an embossing tool, I reveal the image of the bird as it mysteriously transforms the flat sheet into a detail-rich, almost glass-like piece of art. Perhaps you’ve received a fancy invitation printed on this translucent paper.  That’s vellum. It was originally made from animal skins, but the vellum I use today is made using cotton rag fibers polished to create a translucent paper with a vellum-like finish. The blue spruce branch behind the bird is iridescent vellum, which changes in the light. Title inspired by the song, “Blue Velvet”
